About Our Instructors

John A. Collins, Ph.D.
Dr. Collins received his Ph.D. in Inorganic Chemistry from the University of Florida in 1982. He is the author of three chemistry laboratory manuals. He taught Chemistry at Broward College for the past 25 years until recently relocating to Nevada. Dr. Collins founded the PCAT Prep Class in 1994 to assist his students with their PCAT exam and now will be expanding the class to help even more students. Dr. Collins teaches the Chemistry section of the program.

Stephen D. Obenauf, Ph.D.
Dr. Obenauf received his Ph.D. in Microbiology from the University of Miami in 1982. Dr. Obenauf was Professor of Microbiology at Southeastern University of The Health Sciences (now Nova Southeastern University) from 1987 to 1993. He taught Microbiology at Broward College until his retirement in 2019. In 1996 and 2001 Dr. Obenauf was named Broward College’s Professor of the Year. In 2010, he was nominated for the Two Year College Biology Teaching Award, National Association of Biology Teachers. Dr. Obenauf teaches the Biology section of the program.

Kenneth Ross, Ed.D.
Dr. Ken Ross received his Ed.D. with a concentration in mathematics from the University of Tennessee in 1982. Dr. Ross was the Vice President for Academic Affairs at Polk State College until his retirement last year after 41 years in higher ed. Prior to his current position, Dr. Ross taught mathematics and was department head and dean at Broward College. In 1986, Dr. Ross was named Teacher of the Year. Dr. Ross teaches the Quantitative section of the program.

JoAnn Lee, B.S.
JoAnn Lee is a graduate of Florida State University with a Bachelor’s degree in English. Ms. Lee has spent her career as a classroom teacher and a test prep coach in south Florida. Her subject areas have included American literature, language arts, composition, and journalism. She has helped many students from diverse backgrounds master the reading and essay sections on the PCAT and various other graduate program and college entrance exams. Ms. Lee is the English professor for all the self- study students.

Laura P. Choudhury, Ph.D.
Dr. Choudhury received her Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from Emory University in 1994. Dr. Choudhury is a Senior Professor of Chemistry at Broward College, where she teaches Allied Health, General, Organic, and Biochemistry since 1994. She authored an Environmental Chemistry laboratory manual, and co-authored a General Chemistry one. She is also the recipient of two Endowed Teaching Chairs (2000-2003 and 2007-2010) and a Professor of the Year Award (2012). Dr. Choudhury wrote the Organic/Biochemistry Chemistry section of the study guide, and teaches that portion of the program.
